Business Mentoring

The bucket of water philosophy states:

Fill a bucket full of water; stick your arm, fist first, into the bucket. Pull your arm out and the hole that is left in the bucket is how much you will be missed when you are gone.

While this is a rather nihilistic view point, it does reinforce four simple truisms:

  1. Nothing in life is permanent, not even you. While this might sound negative, understanding that everything in life is temporary will give you an empowering perspective regarding your current challenges.
  2. Wisdom only comes from truly knowing failure. In other words, your failures only exist to make your future successes possible.
  3. Look on the bright side. Sometimes this is much easier to say than do. However, focusing on a single positive will help you to quit wasting time and energy on the negatives.
  4. Be prepared to adapt your plan to achieve your goals. Trust that you are where you are because that’s where you need to be; only then will you comprehend how inconsequential your initial plan may have been and how momentous your current one is.

So what prevents business owners and senior management, otherwise competent people, from solving their problems?

Simple – Self Sabotage!

  • Overreacting emotionally and hurting relationships — both at work and at home.
  • Staying stuck in harmful habits, such as procrastination, overeating, disorganization, and avoiding conflict ... the list goes on and on.

We will help you:

  • Respond with a level head — even if you're ready to "blow a fuse".
  • Adapt to workplace changes — even those that are tough to swallow.
  • Stick with difficult challenges when solutions don't come easily.
  • Follow through on plans ... turn "good intentions" into reality ... and meet more goals.
  • Develop the steady self-control to take a stand and deal with conflicts positively.
  • Break on-the-job habits that hurt you like procrastination, disorganization, and others.
  • Bring more discipline into your personal life — creating healthier routines and relationships.

Caveat Emptor – according to Rowena Crosbie, C.I.M.

“The profession of executive coaching is not regulated. For that matter, the entire field of corporate training is not regulated. Compare this with professional fields… [which] have a process for preventing their members from practicing when behavior doesn’t meet, technical or industry thresholds. In unregulated industries the code of ethics is left to the practitioner to decide.”
